Details

The course is relaxed, practical and neuroinclusive. Sessions are small and interactive, materials are sent in advance in an accessible format, and there's no homework.

You can bring an essay question from your own training to work on throughout, or choose one from a list of suggestions.

Is it for me? It's aimed at trainees on TA psychotherapy training programmes in the UK, but feel free to get in touch to see if it could meet other writing needs.

Dates or times don't work? Do get in touch, as I'll be running similar courses in future. I also offer supervision for academic writing, individually or in groups of up to three.

What does it cover? Key elements include:

  • understanding your mark scheme

  • unpicking the essay question

  • structure

  • finding, reading and critiquing relevant literature

  • how psychotherapy essays differ from other essays

  • ethics

  • ways to think about intersectionality and equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging (EDIB) in your written work

  • using diagrams

  • referencing

  • ethical use of different types of AI, IF your training institute permits it (always optional)

We'll also look at how your own education script might be getting in the way, and explore practical tools for focus and planning.
